Aaron Van Blarcum hails from Dallas, Texas, and competes as a professional poker player from the United States. His earliest tracked live cashes date back to 2017, when he finished 42nd in a WSOP Circuit $365 event at the Rio Las Vegas for $1,419 and placed 2,242nd in the WSOP Colossus III for $833. During that period he focused mostly on cash games, building a reputation at the tables in Texas and Las Vegas. A PokerNews story published in April 2020 described him as a "part-time pro" who had won $4 million in nine months, a stretch that began with his breakout tournament run in late 2019.

Van Blarcum's tournament career took off in the autumn of 2019. On September 4, 2019, he won the WPT Legends of Poker main event at the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles, beating a field of 520 entries and collecting $474,390.
