Almedin Imsirovic

Almedin Imsirovic was born on January 29, 1995, in Zenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina. At the age of three, he moved to the United States with his family after the Bosnian War. He grew up in Vancouver, Washington, and initially aspired to become a professional basketball player, but ankle problems ended those dreams. He studied criminal justice at Washington State University, but dropped out just one semester short of graduation to pursue poker full-time, right before the Black Friday events of 2011. He had begun playing online poker illegally at the age of 16.

Imsirovic entered his first live tournament at age 18 and won $1,500. He deposited $100 online to start his career. He first cashed in a World Series of Poker event in 2017. His breakout year came in 2018 when, at the age of 23, he won two events at the Poker Masters and earned the Purple Jacket as series champion. He also finished seventh at the Super High Roller Bowl that year. In 2019, he was runner-up in the £250,000 Super High Roller Bowl London, earning £900,000 (approximately $1.1 million)—his largest live tournament cash. In 2022, Imsirovic faced allegations of cheating from multiple top professionals. The accusations included collusion in live tournaments and the use of real-time assistance (RTA) tools in online play. In September 2022, the PokerGO Tour suspended him for the remainder of the season, barring him from all PokerGO events. He did not publicly confirm or deny the allegations at the time. After a quiet period, he made a shock return at the 2023 World Series of Poker, playing the $1,500 Shootout and finishing 18th. In June 2023, he admitted to multi-accounting in high-stakes online poker games in a YouTube video, calling it a "bad mistake" but denying some other cheating claims. He was subsequently banned from live events in Florida and Texas in 2025.

Despite the controversies, Imsirovic has resumed tournament play. In 2024, he finished 14th in a $1,500 The Closer event at the WSOP for $26,360, and cashed multiple times in smaller events. He continues to play in low-to-mid-stakes tournaments and has occasional cashes in online series.

Imsirovic's legacy is a complex one: he is recognized as one of the most talented high-roller players of his era, with a Purple Jacket, Player of the Year honors, and a string of seven-figure scores. On June 27, 2023, Imsirovic released a YouTube video in which he admitted to multi-accounting in high-stakes online poker games. He described it as a "bad mistake" and apologized, but continued to deny other cheating allegations, such as using real-time assistance tools.
