Brandon Steven

Brandon Steven was born on July 25, 1973, in Wichita, Kansas. He attended Newman University, where he earned a degree in business. After completing his education, he co-founded Brandon Steven Motors, a car dealership that grew into a successful enterprise. His business acumen provided the financial foundation that later allowed him to pursue high-stakes poker. Steven has described his motivation for playing poker as stemming from a love for competitive, mind-provoking games rather than purely financial gain.

Steven's poker journey began with casual local games and online play. His first recorded live cash came in 2007 at the World Series of Poker, where he finished 30th in a $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em event for $17,577. Over the next few years, he steadily built experience in both tournaments and cash games, developing an aggressive style that would become his trademark.

Steven's breakout performance came at the 2010 WSOP Main Event, where he finished 10th out of 7,319 players, earning $635,011. That result narrowly missed the final table and remains one of his most notable accomplishments. The event had 56 entries, and Steven's heads-up opponent was Alex Foxen. In 2023, he placed 8th in the same $250,000 Super High Roller for $574,899, and 7th in the $10,000 Super Turbo Bounty for $99,817. At the 2024 WSOP, he cashed in the $50,000 High Roller (23rd, $101,724) and the Main Event (635th, $30,000). In 2025, he finished 21st in the $10,000 Mystery Bounty for $28,024.

Beyond the WSOP, Steven has cashed in events such as the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic (97th in 2019 for $20,465) and the WinStar River Poker Series Main Event. His total live tournament earnings exceed $6.84 million, placing him 270th on the All-Time Money List and first among players from Kansas.

Steven is a regular participant in high-roller cash games and tournaments. In 2016, he won $648,000 at an Aria Super High Roller, his biggest cash at the time. He has also appeared on televised cash game shows such as High Stakes Poker, where his aggressive style generated notable hands.
