Corné Scheel

Corné Scheel’s poker career began in 2016. That year, he won his first title in the €400 NLH Single Re-entry event at the Breda Poker Series, taking home €8,120. In 2017 and 2018, he continued to cash in events such as the Master Classics of Poker and the Utrecht Poker Series. In February 2020, he won the €440 NLH Main Event at the Scheveningen Poker Series for €25,370, the largest score of his early career.

The pandemic reduced live events in 2021. He returned to the felt in 2022, finishing 14th in the €565 Breda Cup at the Breda Poker Series (€1,493). 2023 was his breakthrough year: he placed third in the €455 Re-entry event at the Amsterdam Poker Series (€9,978) and made the top 60 in the Master Classics of Poker €3,000 Main Event (€5,804). In 2024, he finished 12th in the Rotterdam Poker Series Main Event (€4,259) and placed in the top 21 of the WPT Prime Amsterdam Opener.

In July 2025, Scheel excelled in the €350 Mini Main Event at the WSOP Circuit Tallinn. The tournament drew 954 entries, and he entered the final table with a massive 15,100,000 chip lead, nearly double that of the second-place stack. He went on to win, earning €45,700 plus a $5,000 WSOP Paradise ticket. This was his first WSOP Circuit gold ring and the largest cash of his career.

In April 2026, Scheel emerged from a field of 66 entrants in the €1,100 Super High Roller at the Namur Classic's in Belgium. He made a deal with fellow countryman Pel Nieuwenhuis, then defeated him with pocket fours against A6 to take the title and €16,200, while Nieuwenhuis received €14,000. Later that year, he also finished fifth in the €550 Re-entry event at WSOP Circuit Amsterdam (€9,200) and placed 107th in the WSOP Circuit Venlo Main Event (€3,100).

Based on his tournament results, Scheel primarily employs a tight-aggressive (TAG) style, specializing in steadily accumulating chips in small to mid-stakes events. He has repeatedly performed well in deep-stacked tournaments, demonstrating strong bankroll management and patience. At key final tables, he is willing to attack aggressively in favorable spots, as exemplified in the 2026 Super High Roller where he shoved with small pocket pairs and flopped a set. Overall, he is a disciplined player who capitalizes on opportunities.
