JC Tran

JC Tran (born Justin Cuong Van Tran on January 20, 1977) is a Vietnamese-American professional poker player. He was born in Vietnam and moved to the United States at age two with his family. Tran earned a degree in Business Management Information Systems from California State University, Sacramento. He built his early bankroll playing $9/$18 limit hold'em at Capitol Casino in Sacramento.

Tran began his tournament career in the mid-2000s, cashing in the WSOP Main Event in 2004 and 2005 (both 117th place). He gained recognition with multiple final tables on the World Poker Tour, including runner-up finishes at the 2007 L.A. Poker Classic ($1,177,010) and the 2004 World Poker Finals.

• WSOP Bracelets: Tran won his first bracelet in 2008 in Event #49 ($1,500 No-Limit Hold'em) for $631,170, and his second in 2009 in Event #38 ($2,500 Pot-Limit Omaha).
• WPT Titles: He won the 2007 World Poker Challenge ($683,473) and the 2014 WPT Thunder Valley event, becoming the 20th player in history with multiple WPT titles. He was also named WPT Player of the Year in Season 5.
• WCOOP Main Event: In 2006, Tran won the PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker Main Event for $670,000.
• WSOP Main Event 2013: Tran entered the November Nine as chip leader and finished 5th, earning $2,106,893 – the largest cash of his career.

As of June 2026, Tran has over $13.6 million in live tournament earnings, with 46 WSOP cashes, 11 WSOP final tables, and 20 WPT cashes.

JC Tran is known for his aggressive and analytical approach. He excels in deep-stack play, using position and pressure to accumulate chips. His style blends mathematical precision with psychological reads, often forcing opponents into difficult decisions.

Tran is considered one of the most consistent tournament players of his era. His dual WSOP bracelets and multiple WPT titles, along with his deep run in the 2013 WSOP Main Event, solidify his status as a top-tier professional. He remains active on the tournament circuit, regularly cashing in events.
