Jonathan Little

Jonathan Little was born on December 22, 1984, in Pensacola, Florida. He grew up playing the card game Magic: The Gathering, reaching as high as 9th in the world rankings. Little attended the University of West Florida, where he studied psychology and began playing poker with friends. After building an initial online bankroll of $350,000 over six months, he quit both his job at the airport and college to pursue poker professionally. He is known online under the screen names "FieryJustice," "Jcardshark," and "JonLittle."

Little made his first major splash on the World Poker Tour in January 2007, finishing fifth in the WPT PokerStars Caribbean Adventure for $317,873. Later that year, in May 2007, he won the WPT Mirage Poker Showdown, defeating a field of 309 players to earn $1,066,295 and his first WPT title. The final table included notable pros such as Phil Ivey (5th), Darrell Dicken (3rd), and Cory Carroll (runner-up). In November 2007, Little finished runner-up to Scott Clements in the WPT North American Poker Championship, adding $738,821 to his resume. He capped off an outstanding year by winning the WPT Season VI Player of the Year award.

Little secured his second WPT Main Event title in November 2008 at the Foxwoods World Poker Finals, earning a career-best $1,120,310. He defeated Jonathan Jaffe in heads-up play, a marathon match that set records for the longest WPT final table (275 hands) and longest heads-up match (170 hands). The final table also featured Mike Matusow (6th) and David Pham (4th).

Little has cashed over 70 times at the World Series of Poker, with 10 final tables. For many years, a WSOP bracelet eluded him despite several close calls. In 2013, he finished third in the $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em Six-Handed event for $238,833. He also took third in a Limit Hold'em Shootout in 2010 ($73,218). In 2024, Little cashed in the WSOP Main Event, finishing 316th for $45,000, and placed 46th in the $10,000 Six-Handed Championship ($21,042). His persistence paid off in 2025 when he won his first bracelet in WSOP Online Event #8: $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em Freezeout, taking home $90,663. He also recorded a deep run in the 2025 WSOP Paradise $5,000 Super COLOSSUS, finishing 5th for $116,700.

Beyond the WSOP, Little has excelled in high-roller events. In February 2024, he won a PokerGO Cup event, the $26,000 No-Limit Hold'em tournament, for $453,750. Other notable cashes include a fifth-place in the 2007 PCA and consistent results across the European Poker Tour.

Little's online career includes a 7th-place finish in the 2008 World Championship of Online Poker $10,300 buy-in event on PokerStars for $107,535, playing under the name "Jcardshark." That tournament final table featured notable players such as MLB pitcher Orel Hershiser and 2003 WSOP Main Event champion Chris Moneymaker. Little's total online cashes on PokerStars exceeded $280,000. In 2008, he faced controversy when Full Tilt Poker dropped him as a sponsored pro for allowing others to play on his account; he later apologized publicly.

Little is a prolific poker educator. He created the training site PokerCoaching.com, as well as FloatTheTurn.com, and produces weekly educational blogs and a podcast at JonathanLittlePoker.com. He has authored 14 books on poker strategy, including the popular Secrets of Professional Tournament Poker series. His teaching emphasizes a tight-aggressive, range-based approach with a focus on position and mathematical analysis. Little also develops training hand-packs for the mobile poker strategy game Insta Poker, and regularly contributes strategy articles to PokerNews.

Little married Amie Broder, a lawyer from Brooklyn, New York, on August 1, 2015. The couple has two sons, James and Thomas. They reside in New York City. As of 2025, Little's live tournament earnings exceed $10 million, placing him among the top 200 on the all-time money list. His estimated net worth is between $5 and $8 million, largely derived from his poker winnings and coaching business.
