Kannapong Thanarattrakul

Kannapong Thanarattrakul, nicknamed "Tent," was born and raised in Bangkok, Thailand. He began his poker career playing online before transitioning to live tournaments around 2018. His first notable results came in Asian events, such as a 10th-place finish in the ₩5,000,000 High Roller at the 2019 PokerStars Red Dragon Jeju, worth 13,340,000 KRW, and an 8th-place result in the ₱250,000 High Roller at PokerStars Red Dragon Manila in 2020 for 852,000 PHP. As a Natural8 ambassador, he became one of the most recognizable Thai players in the international game. The COVID-19 pandemic largely shut down live poker in 2021, and Thanarattrakul drew a blank that year; however, he used the hiatus to sharpen his strategy and returned to the felt as a much more dangerous competitor.

Thanarattrakul exploded onto the global stage in May 2022 with a fourth-place finish in a €30,000 buy-in event at the Triton Poker Series Madrid, collecting $277,050. He then traveled to Triton Cyprus, where a handful of massive scores included a career-best live cash of $646,500. The defining result of his career came in September 2022, when he finished second in the WSOP Online Main Event. Outlasting a massive field of 4,984 entries, he won $2,094,885 for the runner-up spot — a result that immediately catapulted him to second place on Thailand's all-time money list.

He capped the year in December at PokerStars EPT Prague, winning the €10,300 EPT Prague High Roller for €543,750 ($577,775) and following with a runner-up finish in the €25,000 No-Limit Hold'em II event for €176,470. He also added a $13,750 cash in the $5,300 Mediterranean Poker Party Main Event and a $153,300 score at the 2023 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure.

Since his breakthrough, Thanarattrakul has remained a regular in elite fields. At the 2023 World Series of Poker, he posted multiple cashes, including 15th in the $1,500 Short Deck ($5,215), 103rd in the $1,979 Poker Hall of Fame Bounty ($4,158), 111th in the $1,500 The Closer ($4,590), and 160th in the $1,000 Freezeout ($2,004). In 2024, he finished runner-up in WSOP Event #85: $1,000 Flip & Go No-Limit Hold'em Presented by GGPoker for $103,633, was 15th in Event #7: $100,000 Triton Main Event at WSOP Paradise for $269,000, and cashed for $6,006 in the $3,000 Mid-Stakes Championship and $3,000 in the $1,500 Millionaire Maker.

The latter half of 2025 brought a string of nosebleed-stakes scores. In May 2025, he finished 4th in the Triton Montenegro $50,000 NLH 7-Handed event for $452,000. In September 2025, he placed 5th in the Triton Poker Jeju $100,000 NLH Main Event for $717,000, and he added $157,000 for 36th in a second $100,000 NLHE Main Event at the same festival. He then recorded one of the largest scores of his career in December 2025 at WSOP Paradise, finishing 4th in the $100,000 Triton NLH Main Event for $1,170,000.

Thanarattrakul is celebrated for his calculated, technical style, which has roots in high-stakes online tournament play. He is comfortable with the mathematical side of poker and relies on solid fundamentals, patience, and mental discipline to stay sharp through long multi-day events. Although normally disciplined, he is capable of executing bold bluffs and switching between tight, controlled play and aggression to pressure opponents at key moments. This adaptability has made him a difficult opponent to read in the elite fields of the Triton and EPT tours.

As of the 2026 season, Thanarattrakul carries a Strong Poker Index (SPI) score of 5,731, ranking 366th globally, with a net worth of $663,188 in Asia-Pacific and a biggest win in the region of $236,250; he has attended 25 events in the region and cashed in 17. Globally, his live tournament earnings have surpassed $4.15 million, and he held a Hendon Mob all-time best rank of 672nd before settling around 692nd. He has consistently been ranked second on Thailand's all-time money list behind Punnat Punsri.

As a Natural8 ambassador, Thanarattrakul has become a prominent voice for Thai poker, sharing his experiences through social media and content creation. His journey from local Red Dragon events to $100,000 buy-in Triton Main Events has inspired a new generation of Thai players and demonstrated the growing strength of Asian poker talent.
