Maki Fuchigami

Maki Fuchigami hails from Nagoya-Shi, Japan, and first gained recognition in the domestic Japanese poker scene, particularly through events in the Japan Open Poker Tour (JOPT). She secured a victory in a Mystery Bounty event at JOPT in Tokyo, marking her early breakthrough.

Fuchigami’s 2025 season proved to be a breakout year. At the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, she finished 34th in the $600 PokerNews Deepstack Championship (Bracelet Event #78) out of 5,667 entrants, earning $9,818. She also cashed in Event #67: $300 Gladiators of Poker, finishing 602nd out of 24,629 for $1,440.

On the Asian Poker Tour, she placed 3rd in a No Limit Hold’em event at the APT Championship Taipei in November 2025, winning TWD 347,500 (approximately $11,099).

In February 2026, Fuchigami won the #H17 High Roller (20,000 TWD buy-in) at the Taiwan Millions Tournament TMT 19, defeating a field of 197 entries to take first place and a prize of NT$673,200 ($21,305). This result marked her largest career score to date.

Fuchigami is known for a disciplined and resilient tournament approach, excelling in deepstack and accelerated formats. Her strategy combines a solid fundamental baseline with well-timed aggression, allowing her to navigate massive fields and capitalize on chip-leading positions in the middle stages. She demonstrates exceptional mental stamina and a sharp understanding of bubble dynamics.

With total live earnings exceeding $27,000 as of 2026, Fuchigami is part of the growing wave of Japanese talent making a significant impact on the international poker landscape. Her success at both WSOP and Asian circuit events highlights her versatility and dedication to the live tournament grind.
