Mike Binger

Michael W. Binger was born on December 20, 1976, in Delray Beach, Florida. He graduated from North Carolina State University and later earned a Ph.D. in theoretical physics from Stanford University in 2006. His academic background gave him a strong mathematical foundation that he applies to poker. He has a brother, Nick Binger, who also has several high-profile tournament cashes.

Binger's breakthrough came just two months after receiving his Ph.D., when he finished third in the 2006 World Series of Poker Main Event, outlasting 8,770 players and earning $4,123,310. Earlier that year, he made another WSOP final table, finishing sixth. At the 2007 WSOP, Binger tied Chris Ferguson, Phil Hellmuth, and Humberto Brenes for the second-most cashes in a single WSOP season, with eight. This included a third-place finish in Event 22, a $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em tournament won by James Mackey. In 2008, he won the WSOP Circuit at Lake Tahoe, a $5,150 Championship event, earning $181,379. His other notable WSOP results include a seventh-place finish in the $10,000 H.O.R.S.E.
