Nevan Chang

Nevan Chang, born Yu Chung Chang in Taipei, Taiwan, originally made a name for himself as a respected esports player before transitioning to poker. He discovered Texas Hold'em around 2016 and initially worked on the business side of the poker industry, promoting the game in Taiwan. In 2017, he turned professional, dedicating up to eight hours a day to studying the game. His background in competitive gaming and his analytical mindset helped him quickly excel online and in live tournaments. He became a poker lecturer at Ace8 Association and a guest lecturer at National Taiwan University and National Chengchi University, and even served as a reviewer for the TV program "Who Is The Poker King." In 2023, he joined Natural8's Team Hot, a prestigious group of poker ambassadors, alongside his partner Hua Wei Lin.

Chang's live tournament career has been marked by consistent deep runs and multiple titles. His biggest score to date came at the 2025 APT Championship in Taipei, where he won the Mini Main Event for $225,454, adding to his nine career APT titles. Earlier that year, he finished 4th in a WSOP $1,000 Super Turbo event for $84,733. At the 2024 WSOP, he placed 3rd in the $1,000 Super Turbo Bounty ($96,965) and took 125th in the Main Event for $100,000. He also cashed in high-roller events, including a 12th-place finish in the Triton $3,000 Genesis in Jeju for $33,000 in early 2026. his total live earnings exceed $3.5 million, placing him among the top Taiwanese players of all time.

Chang is widely regarded as a highly disciplined and technical player. His extensive study of poker mathematics allows him to make correct decisions under pressure. He is particularly effective in Turbo and Bounty events, where quick thinking and aggression are rewarded. At the table, he is often quiet, preferring to observe opponents' patterns and exploit small edges. This patient, logical approach has made him one of the most consistent 'money finishers' on the Asian circuit. He frequently travels to major international stops like the WPT and WSOP, representing Taiwan with pride. His calm demeanor and adaptability allow him to compete effectively in both small local tournaments and multi-million-dollar high roller events.
