Pedro Marques

Pedro Marques was born in 1993 in Corroios, Portugal. Before dedicating himself fully to poker, he studied psychology at university. He began his poker journey as an online grinder, cutting his teeth on cash games and tournaments under the alias "OMano" on PokerStars and later GGNetwork. Marques is part of a highly competitive generation of Portuguese online players that also includes João Vieira and Jorge Abreu.

Marques’ first major live breakthrough came in 2018 when he finished fourth in the €5,300 EPT Barcelona Main Event, earning €698,369. He followed that up with a victory in the €10,300 No-Limit Hold'em Single Re-Entry event at EPT Barcelona 2019, collecting €307,978 (adjusted from €330,580 per exchange rates). In 2021, he finished runner-up in the €2,200 Eureka High Roller at EPT Prague for €288,750, and in 2022 he won the €3,000 Mystery Bounty at EPT Monte-Carlo for €167,202.

Marques’ career-best live cash came in January 2023, when he finished fifth in the $25,000 PokerStars Players No-Limit Hold'em Championship (PSPC) in the Bahamas, earning $1,251,500. That result made him the first Portuguese player to have two seven-figure live scores (having previously won $1,091,750 in an online tournament in 2018). Later in 2023, he placed fourth in the €50,000 Super High Roller at EPT Paris for €340,700.

In December 2024, Marques captured the most prestigious title of his career by winning the €5,300 EPT Prague Main Event. He outlasted a massive field to claim €963,450 ($1,018,450). The victory made him only the third Portuguese player ever to win an EPT Main Event, following João Barbosa (EPT Warsaw 2008) and António Matias (EPT Vilamoura 2009). In a post-tournament interview, Marques said, "It's an incredible and special feeling. One of the best days of my life in poker, without a doubt." Under the screen name "OMano", Marques has accumulated over $9.4 million in online tournament winnings, primarily on PokerStars and GGNetwork. He is considered one of the top Portuguese online players of his era, with deep runs in high-stakes events and a reputation for technical proficiency across both No-Limit Hold'em and Pot-Limit Omaha.

Marques is known for a balanced, resilient, and highly technical playing style. He combines a strong foundation in Game Theory Optimal (GTO) strategies with an ability to make exploitative adjustments in high-pressure spots. During his EPT Prague victory, he became famous for an "unbelievable comeback," overcoming significant chip deficits through precise small-ball tactics and expert bluffing. Commentators have described him as "robotic" in his emotional stability, rarely showing signs of tilt or frustration. He is also proficient in Pot-Limit Omaha, as evidenced by his 43rd-place finish in the $10,000 PLO Championship at the 2025 WSOP.

Marques has continued to perform at a high level through 2025 and into 2026. In 2025, he cashed in multiple WSOP events, including a 9th-place finish in the $5,000 Super Turbo Bounty for $51,266 and an 84th-place finish in the $25,000 Super Main Event at WSOP Paradise for $92,500. He also made deep runs on the European Poker Tour in Malta, Barcelona, and Monte-Carlo.

As of 2025, Marques ranks second on the Portugal All-Time Money List, trailing only João Vieira. Marques is family-oriented and has cited his son as a primary motivation for maintaining a disciplined schedule.
