Sumire Hori

Sumire Hori began her poker journey as an amateur player while working as a company employee in Japan. She gained early experience in domestic tournaments such as the Japan Open Poker Tour (JOPT) before expanding to international events.

Hori's breakout came at the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Ladies Championship, where she finished 7th out of 1,368 entries, earning $1,504. She also cashed in the 2021 WSOP Online #25: $777 LUCKY SEVENS for $1,750.

In the 2025 APT Championship Taipei Main Event, she navigated a massive field to finish 45th, collecting TWD 727,800 (~$22,500). Earlier, she won the Women's Event at the Grand Loyal Poker Championship (GLPC) in Hanoi (October 2025).

At the WPT Prime Taiwan (2022), she placed 8th for $17,571.

Hori is known for her solid tournament fundamentals and resilience in large fields. She combines patient, calculated play with aggressive bluffs and well-timed folds—a style praised by commentators during the ABEMA Queen Of Poker (AQOP) broadcasts. Her ability to outlast 98% of the field in the APT Main Event highlights her transition from mid-stakes to high-level championships.

In 2025, Hori participated in the third season of ABEMA Queen Of Poker (AQOP), a televised tournament featuring 12 female players. She continues to travel the Asian circuit, appearing at stops of the USOP, APT, and WPT, and maintains an active presence on social media under the handle @smr_poker.
