Terry Sua

Born in Penang, Malaysia, Terry Sua (also known as Shung Er Sua) moved to Taiwan at the age of 17. He learned poker there and gradually built a career as a tournament grinder. He now lives in Tainan and competes under the Taiwanese flag, though his Malaysian roots remain a part of his identity.

Sua's landmark victory came in 2023 at the Asian Poker Tour (APT) Summer Series in Hanoi, Vietnam. He entered the Single Day Super High Roller as a late registrant on the advice of fellow pro Michael Soyza. Overcoming a field of 59 entries with a buy-in of VND 120,000,000 ($5,160), Sua emerged victorious to claim his second APT title and the top prize of VND 1,922,930,000 ($82,700). This remains the largest cash of his career.

During the tournament, Sua described staying aggressive as key, especially after a pivotal hand where his pocket queens outdrew an opponent's kings on the turn. In heads-up play against China's Xiaosheng Zheng, Sua held KJ against Zheng's 36 and flopped a jack to seal the win.
