William Kopp

William Kopp began his poker journey in the early 2010s, making his first recorded live cash in 2013. He quickly found success on the World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOPC), winning his first Circuit ring in 2014 at WSOPC Foxwoods in a $580 buy-in event for $40,836. He added a second ring in 2018 at Harrah's Cherokee in Event #6: $400 Pot-Limit Omaha, earning $26,261. These early victories established Kopp as a consistent performer on the regional circuit, and he continued to post steady results in both hold'em and Omaha events.

Kopp's biggest achievement came in the summer of 2023 at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. He won Event #66: $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha 8 or Better, taking home $259,549 and his first WSOP bracelet. That victory marked a career milestone and showcased his versatility in mixed games. Just a few weeks later, Kopp proved his no-limit hold'em skills were equally sharp by making the final table of the WSOPC Cherokee Main Event.

In August 2023, Kopp won the $1,700 WSOP Circuit Main Event at Harrah's Cherokee, topping a field of 1,623 entrants to earn $376,154 – a new personal best. He defeated Brian Jones heads-up, with the final hand showing Kopp's pocket nines holding against Jones's jack-five. This victory gave Kopp his third WSOP Circuit ring and his fourth piece of WSOP hardware overall (one bracelet plus three rings). The Main Event final table included notable players such as Preston McEwen (3rd, $175,713), Lam Nguyen (4th, $133,953), and Jorge Arriola (5th, $103,007).

Kopp's other significant results include multiple final-table appearances and deep runs in various WSOP events. his total live tournament earnings exceed $2,071,937 as of early 2025. He ranks among the top 700 on the United States All-Time Money List and is 16th on the Ohio state list. His consistent deep runs and ability to close out tournaments have earned him a reputation as a dangerous opponent in both small-field and large-field events.

Kopp is recognized for a patient, calculated playing style. He excels at ICM pressure and picking his spots, as demonstrated during the Cherokee Main Event where he adjusted his aggression after a key pot. “I had to ease up a bit after that one. Pick my spots. Before that I was opening lots of hands, putting ICM pressure on,” he said. He is comfortable in both no-limit hold'em and pot-limit Omaha, and his deep-stack decision-making is a hallmark of his game. Kopp emphasizes bankroll management and avoiding unnecessary risk, traits that have allowed him to sustain a long and profitable career.

William Kopp hails from Brecksville, Ohio, and lives there with his family. He is the brother of Katie Kopp, who won the 2022 WSOP Casino Employees event. William's own success in 2023 – winning both a bracelet and a circuit main event – placed the Kopp siblings in a select group of brothers and sisters to achieve WSOP gold.
