WSD from SB

WSD from SB

Small Blind Showdown Win Rate WSD from SB Refers to the percentage of hands in which a player, while in the small blind position, sees a showdown and wins, out of all hands they see a showdown from that position.

Small Blind Showdown Win Rate (WSD from SB)

Overview

WSD (Win Showdown) is a statistical metric in Texas Hold'em that indicates the percentage of hands a player wins when reaching a showdown. WSD from SB specifically refers to this data when the player is in the Small Blind position.

Calculation Method

The formula for WSD from SB is: Number of hands won at showdown from SB ÷ Total number of hands that reached showdown from SB. It is usually expressed as a percentage; for example, 70% means that for every 10 showdowns from SB, the player wins about 7.

Strategic Significance

  • High WSD value (e.g., >55%): Indicates a high win rate at showdown from SB, possibly due to tight starting hand selection and solid post-flop play, only going to showdown with a clear advantage.
  • Low WSD value (e.g., <45%): Suggests a low win rate at showdown from SB, possibly due to over-defending the blind, calling pre-flop raises with weak hands, or aggressive post-flop play that rarely connects with the board.
  • Adjustment Basis: An opponent's WSD from SB data can help you assess their fold rate from SB, post-flop tendencies, etc. For example, against an opponent with high WSD, reduce bluffs as they are more likely to go to showdown with strong hands; against low WSD, increase continuation bets or thin value bets.

Notes

  • Sample size: WSD from SB requires a sufficient hand sample (typically at least 200 hands) to be statistically meaningful, as short-term variance is high.
  • Positional effect: The small blind is a disadvantageous position and involves a forced bet of half a big blind. Therefore, this data should be analyzed together with the opponent's pre-flop raising range, post-flop aggression, etc.
  • Difference: Compared to WSD from other positions, WSD from SB is generally lower due to pressure from the big blind and later positions.
