Alan Friedmann

Alan Friedmann first gained attention in 2005 when he cashed in the World Series of Poker Main Event, finishing 43rd out of 5,619 players for $235,390. This early success set the stage for a career focused on mixed-game events. Throughout the 2000s, he regularly cashed in high-stakes mixed tournaments, including 10th and 14th place finishes in the $10,000 8-Game Championships at the 2008 and 2009 WSOP respectively.

In 2012, Friedmann won his first WSOP bracelet in Event #15: $5,000 Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo, defeating Todd Brunson heads-up to earn $269,037. This victory solidified his reputation as a top mixed-game specialist. He continued to perform strongly, finishing runner-up in the $1,500 Seven Card Stud event in 2016.

Friedmann's crowning achievement came in the $10,000 Dealer's Choice Championship. He won his second bracelet in 2018, beating Stuart Rutter heads-up for $293,275. The following year, he defended his title by defeating Shaun Deeb heads-up for $312,417, becoming only the third player to successfully defend a WSOP bracelet. After the 2020 WSOP was postponed due to COVID-19, Friedmann returned in 2021 to win an unprecedented third consecutive Dealer's Choice Championship, this time defeating Phil Hellmuth heads-up. His streak remains unmatched in WSOP history.

In 2014, Friedmann finished sixth in the $10,000 No Limit Hold'em LA Poker Classic Main Event for $200,440. He has numerous deep runs in WSOP events, including a sixth-place finish in the $10,000 Seven Card Stud Championship in 2025 for $53,201 and an eighth-place finish in the $25,000 High Roller H.O.R.S.E. in 2024 for $80,585. As of 2025, his total live earnings exceed $5.1 million.

Friedmann is widely regarded as one of the most versatile poker players in the world, excelling in mixed games that require mastery of multiple poker variants. His ability to adapt to the complex rotations of Dealer's Choice games has made him a feared opponent. Beyond his bracelets, he has consistently demonstrated deep runs across a variety of disciplines, from Stud to Omaha to Hold'em. His three-peat in the Dealer's Choice Championship is considered one of the greatest achievements in poker history, and he remains a prominent figure in the mixed-game community.
