Andre Coimbra

Andre Coimbra, born on April 27, 1986, in Coimbra, Portugal, first gained international recognition as a professional Magic: The Gathering player. He won the Magic: The Gathering 2009 World Championship in Rome, defeating David Reitbauer 3-0 in the finals with a deck called 'Naya Lightsaber' designed by Mike Flores. He also achieved multiple Grand Prix top finishes and accumulated over $82,000 in Magic winnings before transitioning to poker.

Coimbra joined PokerStars as a member of Team Online in December 2009. He became the first Portuguese player to reach Supernova Elite status on PokerStars, a testament to his high-volume online play. In 2013, he turned a $100 deposit into $70,000 and donated all the winnings to charity, demonstrating both skill and generosity.

His most notable live cash came at the 2010 World Series of Poker Event #57: $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em Main Event, where he finished 311th out of 7,319 players, earning $41,967. He also cashed at the 2010 PokerStars EPT Vilamoura Main Event, finishing 49th for €7,263. His total live earnings stand at $72,719 according to The Hendon Mob.

Coimbra was a member of Team PokerStars Pro Online from 2009 until 2017, when he chose not to renew his contract and retired from professional poker. However, he rejoined the team in April 2021 as part of a new roster that also included players like Tom Middleton and Patrick Talbot, only to leave again in 2023. In 2020, he became Managing Partner of Evolution Poker, a role he continues to hold.
