Andrew Moreno

Andrew Moreno grew up in the Midwest and worked at a factory operating a steel-cutting machine. In 2006, he overheard his future wife, Kristy Arnett, talking about poker and the two moved to Las Vegas to chase their poker dreams. He started grinding $1-$2 no-limit hold'em cash games and remained stuck at that level until 2009 when he met his first poker mentor—an online crusher from Sweden. Under his guidance, Moreno developed into one of the biggest winners in Las Vegas cash games over the next decade, playing stakes as high as $25-$50 NL, with most volume at $5-$10 and $10-$20 NL.

When COVID-19 shut down live poker in 2020, Moreno turned to online play. He realized his technical skills and game theory knowledge were weak, so he joined a study group led by a young UK solver expert. He became very profitable online during the pandemic and, in early 2021, decided to shift his focus to tournaments. He set two goals: surpass $1 million in lifetime earnings (he was about $100,000 short) and secure his first seven-figure score. In June 2021, he won the Venetian DeepStack Championship Event #58 for $127,740, achieving the first goal. Just over a week later, he topped a 1,328-entry field to win the inaugural $10,000 buy-in Wynn Millions for $1,460,106, vaulting him into the tournament elite.

Moreno continued his tournament success with a runner-up finish in the 2022 Wynn Summer Classic $3,500 Championship for $460,529, and a win at the 2022 Venetian $2,500 event for $242,293—a tournament he famously refused to chop. In 2022, he also finished 3rd in the America's Cardroom Venom $2,650 event for $634,000. He placed 5th in the 2025 Wynn Summer Classic $3,500 event for $325,347, and won the 2025 RunGood Thunder Valley Main Event for $200,080. At the 2025 Poker Masters, he took 1st in the $10,500 buy-in event for $252,000. Other notable results include a 28th-place finish in the 2015 WSOP Main Event ($212,000), 6th in the 2016 WSOP Monster Stack ($220,000), and various deep runs in WSOP, WPT, and EPT events. As of 2025, his live earnings exceed $6.8 million according to PokerNews, with a GPI rank of 29.

Moreno also plays online under the screen name "amo4sho" and has been profitable on multiple platforms. He shares his online profits publicly via Sharkscope. Since 2017, he has offered one-on-one coaching specializing in low- to mid-high-stakes live NLHE tournaments. He provides a free 15-30 minute consultation to assess student needs and create personalized game plans. Moreno emphasizes bypassing common pitfalls like overpriced courses and outdated strategies, focusing on building a solid framework.

Moreno is known for an aggressive, pressure-based style that capitalizes on position and stack leverage. He excels in post-flop play with strong hand-reading skills, often employing large bets and check-raises to exploit opponents. His well-timed bluffs and willingness to make bold decisions—such as a massive river bluff with a missed draw that forced a fold of top pair—are hallmarks of his game. In 2025, he continued strong form with wins at the RunGood Main Event and Poker Masters, as well as a 5th in the Wynn Summer Classic. He also cashed in multiple 2026 WSOP events, including an 8th-place finish in Event #79 ($78,210) and an 11th in Event #18 ($120,000). Moreno's dedication to reaching his full potential has made him a respected figure both at the tables and in the coaching community.
