Anthony Gregg was born in 1986 in Columbia, Maryland and now resides in Washington, D.C. Before turning to poker, he played Magic: The Gathering, a strategic card game that helped him develop analytical thinking. He turned professional after a brief period in another career, though his nickname 'The Busher' (from a short stint as a bus driver) is not confirmed in official sources; he is more commonly known as Tony.

Gregg's breakout came in 2009 when he finished runner-up in the $10,000 EPT PCA Main Event for $1,700,000, outlasting a field of over 1,300 players including Benny Spindler, Cliff Josephy, and Matt Glantz.
