James Mendoza

James Mendoza is a poker professional from the Philippines who currently resides in Glendale, California. His recorded live tournament results total $1,745,768, with a best live cash of $303,884. He has been a consistent presence on the World Series of Poker and Asian tours since 2018.

Mendoza's first tracked WSOP Circuit cash came on December 1, 2018, at Harrah's Cherokee in the $250 Seniors Event #2, where he finished 360th for $300. His next notable result was a fourth-place finish in the $400 Knockout event at the WSOP Circuit Thunder Valley on January 11, 2020, earning $3,448. In June 2022 he played the $5,000 Mixed No-Limit Hold'em / Pot-Limit Omaha event at the WSOP and finished 73rd for $10,013.

In 2023, Mendoza made his deepest WSOP run yet in the $3,000 Freezeout No-Limit Hold'em event, finishing third for $303,884. During the same series he placed 44th in the $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Championship for $28,905, and also cashed in the $3,000 No-Limit Hold'em event (151st, $6,003) and the $1,500 Monster Stack (1,168th, $2,401).

2024 was his busiest WSOP summer: 14 cashes for roughly $42,000. Results include 49th in the $1,000 Pot-Limit Omaha 8-Handed ($5,305), 37th in the $1,000 NLH 6-Max ($2,885), 57th in the $1,000 FLIP & GO ($3,135), 86th in the $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha 6-Handed ($3,376), 120th in the $3,000 No-Limit Hold'em ($7,146), 173rd in the $2,000 No-Limit Hold'em ($4,000), 474th in the $1,500 Closer ($3,000), and 703rd in the $1,500 Millionaire Maker ($3,850). He also final-tabled two WSOP Online bounty events.

At the 2025 WSOP, Mendoza finished third in Event #11, the $10,000 Mystery Bounty, for $336,594; 19th in Event #62, the $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em 6-Handed, for $39,201; and 80th in Event #92, the $1,979 Poker Hall of Fame Bounty, for $4,794. In 2026 he added four more WSOP cashes, including 55th in the $10,000 Super Turbo Bounty ($13,695) and 47th in the $3,000 6-Handed Pot-Limit Omaha ($8,699).

Mendoza's largest recorded tournament win came on September 9, 2025, at the Triton WPT Global Slam (Event #1), a $25,000 + $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em event held at the Les A Casino at Jeju Shinhwa World Resort. He defeated a field of 199 entries to take first place and $1,515,000.

On March 17, 2026, he returned to the same venue for the $25,000 + $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em Jupiter Event (Event #2) and finished 23rd out of 262 entries for $63,000.

Mendoza has also cashed on the World Poker Tour. At the WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas on December 14, 2024, he finished 64th out of 2,392 entries for $50,000. At the WPT Championship at NagaWorld Integrated Resort on February 19, 2025, he placed 93rd out of 750 for $6,400.

In the Asia Pacific Poker Tour, he cashed in the APT Main Event at City of Dreams on November 6, 2024, finishing 31st of 639 for ₱594,000. On May 2, 2025, at APT Red Space, he finished 211th of 1,276 in the NT$55,000 APT Main Event, earning NT$113,500.
