She has performed consistently in Limit Hold'em events, making multiple cashes, including 2008 Event #12 ($1,500 Limit Hold'em, 67th place, $3,243) and Event #20 ($2,000 Limit Hold'em, 23rd place, $6,115).

Crossover Achievement: World Series of Golf Champion
In May 2009, Jody Garaventa won the World Series of Golf at the Paiute Golf Resort in Las Vegas, taking home $300,000. The event featured a unique format: players teed off from different distances based on their handicap, and a poker-style betting system was introduced — before each shot, players could raise, fold, or check. In the final round, Garaventa battled for eight hours with 3-handicap player Kevin Dumont and others, eventually winning on the second hole of a playoff with precise shots and a chip advantage. At the time, she held $910,000 in chips while her opponent had only $340,000. Garaventa later said, "I practiced for nine months for this. It was the most nerve-wracking experience of my life."
Playing Style and Characteristics
Based on her WSOP tournament records, Garaventa excels in Limit Hold'em and mixed games (such as Badugi). Her multiple cashes in limit events demonstrate solid fundamentals and patience. In the crossover golf event, she showed the ability to remain calm under pressure and the wisdom to apply poker strategies (like bankroll management and decision-making) to other fields.
