Early Career and Breakthrough

Joseph Couden (nicknamed Joey) began his poker career in 2008, and made his first WSOP cash in 2009 in the $2,500 Limit/No-Limit Hold'em mix. At the 2012 WSOP, he achieved his first final table, finishing fourth in the $2,500 Eight-Game Mix for $76,841. He then posted multiple five-figure scores, including a win in the $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em event at Pompano Beach in July 2015 for $154,762, and a sixth-place finish for $150,000 in the $5,250 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open in August of the same year.

First WSOP Bracelet (2018)

On June 28, 2018, Couden won the WSOP $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better (PLO8) event, earning $244,370 and his first WSOP bracelet. The event attracted a strong field including Daniel Negreanu, Mike Matusow, and Manolas Elezra.

Second Bracelet (2025)

On June 17, 2025, Couden won the WSOP $500 No-Limit Hold'em "Salute to Warriors" event, taking home $187,937 and his second WSOP bracelet. The event is dedicated to military members, veterans, and their families, and Couden’s victory reflected his support for the cause.

Third Bracelet and Career High (2026)

In June 2026, Couden won the WSOP $3,000 Nine-Game Mix, earning $254,470 — the largest tournament score of his career — and securing his third WSOP bracelet.

Other Tournament Results

Couden has also performed well on the World Poker Tour (WPT). In April 2018, he finished fourth in the $3,500 WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown for $251,523. In addition, he has made numerous final tables at major poker festivals, including an 80th-place finish for $11,284 in the 2025 WSOP $5,000 Six-Handed No-Limit Hold'em event.
