Leo Margets

Leo Margets (full name Leonor Margets Perez) was born on August 10, 1983, in Barcelona, Spain. She graduated from the University of Roehampton in London with a Master's degree in Business Communication. Before entering poker, she worked at the sports agency IMG. She started playing Texas Hold'em in 2006 and earned her first live tournament cash in 2008.

In 2009, Margets finished 27th in the 40th WSOP Main Event, earning $352,832, making her the best-performing female player in that tournament. She then became active in the European Poker Tour (EPT), Estrella Poker Tour, and Irish Open. At the 2018 WSOP, she finished runner-up in the $1,000 Double Stack No-Limit Hold'em event.

In 2021, Margets won the WSOP $1,500 The Closer (Event #83), defeating 1,903 entrants to claim her first WSOP gold bracelet and $376,850. As of 2025, she remains the last female player to win an open WSOP event in Las Vegas. That same year, she was inducted into the Spanish Poker Hall of Fame.

The 2025 WSOP Main Event drew 9,735 entrants. Margets entered the final table as the fifth-largest stack, becoming the first woman to reach the WSOP Main Event final table since Barbara Enright in 1995. She was eliminated in 7th place—her pocket aces were rivered by Kenny Hallaert's flush—earning $1,500,000, the largest prize ever won by a female player in the WSOP Main Event.

Margets is an ambassador for the Winamax poker platform, with career live tournament earnings exceeding $3.6 million. She has served as a live WSOP commentary guest and published the poker strategy book Play Your Cards Well (2017). As a coach, she emphasizes discipline and long-term profitability strategies.

In 2014, Margets participated in the Spanish version of Survivor (Supervivientes). In 2023, she won the Spanish version of The Traitors. She is an avid marathon runner, having completed 10 full marathons.
