Maria Constanza Lampropulos

Maria Constanza Lampropulos was born in Greece in 1981 and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Before entering the poker world, she studied and worked in business management, which gave her a strong foundation for managing risk and bankroll. Her introduction to poker came through her longtime boyfriend, fellow Argentine poker pro Ivan Luca. For years, she traveled with him and observed the game from the rail, learning by watching top players. When she decided to play herself, she quickly proved a natural, turning professional and eventually relocating to London, England, where she continues to live.

Lampropulos burst onto the international scene in April 2017 by winning the partypoker Millions Live in Nottingham. She topped a field of 1,204 entries to take the top prize of £1,000,000, worth approximately $1,255,004. This was her first seven-figure score and put her on the map as a formidable force in tournament poker.

Just eight months later, she achieved an even more historic feat at the 2018 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) $10,300 Main Event. Outlasting a field of 582 players, she became the first woman in the event’s 13-year history to win the title, earning $1,081,100 and a $30,000 Platinum Pass. On the final day, she eliminated Christian Rudolph in sixth place, Daniel Coupal in fifth, Adrian Mateos in fourth, and eventually outlasted Shawn Buchanan heads-up. This victory brought her lifetime earnings to over $2.79 million at the time and moved her into third place on Argentina’s all-time money list behind Nacho Barbero and Ivan Luca.

In addition to these marquee wins, she has many other deep runs. In 2016, she finished heads-up against Ivan Luca in a Eureka Poker Tour event, ultimately chopping with Luca taking the title and $115,649 while she earned $103,907. She also has dozens of cashes at the World Series of Poker, though she is still seeking her first gold bracelet.

Lampropulos is known for a fearless yet highly disciplined style. She is often quiet and stoic at the table, giving away little information through demeanor or table talk. Her strategy emphasizes pot control and knowing when to shift from conservative to aggressive play.
