Mario Jakopec

Mario Jakopec first made headlines in the live tournament circuit during the ISOP Season 2015-2016. At Event 5 (the Main Event), he emerged as the absolute chip leader after Day 1B, bagging 618,100 chips—the largest stack among all 271 entries. He entered Day 2 with a commanding lead over a field that included notable players like Gianfrancesco Fierro and Dario Bonissi.

Jakopec took his talents to the grandest stage of poker, the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. In the 2017 WSOP Main Event, he survived Day 1 and entered Day 2c with a stack of 123,200 chips, placing him among the top 300 players at that point. He shared the tournament with other international competitors and continued to represent his home country of Croatia at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino.

Despite being Croatian, Jakopec was selected as a member of the Italian Poker Team in 2017. The team, composed of 15 players including captain Nicola Benedetto, participated in the $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em event (#66) at the WSOP.
