Sven Westlund

Sven Westlund is a Swedish poker player who began his documented poker journey in May 2006. He posted a diary on the Swedish poker forum Pokerforum.nu titled "Sven, en ganska dålig PLO dagbok" ("Sven, a pretty bad PLO diary"), stating his goal to build a bankroll from $36 playing Pot-Limit Omaha $25 buy-ins on PokerStars. At the time, he was living in London, which gave him access to live poker events.

Online Poker

Westlund played online under the screen name "Svenman87" on both PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker. Hand histories shared on LiquidPoker show activity from 2008 to 2015, including high-stakes No Limit Hold'em and Limit Hold'em cash games, as well as large tournament pots. Notable hands include a $137,150 pot on PokerStars on January 12, 2010, and an $89,317 pot on the same date. He also recorded wins in multi-table tournaments, such as a $92,304 pot on September 30, 2009.

Westlund participated in live events in London. In a forum post on May 7, 2006, he mentioned the Showdown Poker Tour, which was held a 10-minute walk from his home. He also referenced playing in Gutshot Poker Club tournaments, where he was featured in a forum report and had a "blodad tand" (blooded tooth) for live poker.

In 2021, a player named Stephen Paul Westlund (possibly a misspelling or different person) cashed in two WSOP Online events: 866th in the COLOSSUS ($1,004) and 49th in the HUNDRED STACK ($1,350). It is unclear if this is the same Sven Westlund, as the name differs slightly.

Westlund openly described himself as a strong Pot-Limit Omaha player, claiming he could be "vass" (sharp) and that with proper bankroll management, "there is no ceiling on winnings." His online hand histories suggest an aggressive style—playing high-variance pots, often with deep stacks. In cash games, he mixed NLHE and PLO, but his heart was clearly in Omaha.

Although not a household name, Sven Westlund represents the dedicated Swedish grinders who built their bankrolls from minimal deposits in the mid-2000s. His presence on forums and hand history sites provides a snapshot of the low- to mid-stakes online poker scene of that era.
