Tuan Lam

Tuan Lam was born on January 1, 1966, in Vietnam. He left Vietnam at age 17, eventually spending two years in an Indonesian refugee camp where he learned English. He then made his way to Canada and settled in Mississauga, Ontario. Before turning professional, Lam worked as a general laborer for a metal company. He learned how to play poker from friends and regularly played at Brantford Charity Casino in Brantford, Ontario. He is married with two children. Lam now plays at the Bellagio in Las Vegas.

Lam's most notable achievement came at the 2007 World Series of Poker Main Event. Outlasting a field of 6,358 players, he made it to the final table and ultimately finished second to Jerry Yang. His runner-up finish earned him $4,840,981, the largest cash of his career. This performance placed him among the top-earning poker players of the year and cemented his place in poker history. Prior to the Main Event, Lam had two previous cashes in the WSOP: a 78th-place finish in 2005 and a 46th-place finish in 2006.
