Walter Quarenta

Walter Damián Quarenta, a 40-year-old baker from Luján, Buenos Aires, describes himself as a recreational poker player rather than a professional. He started playing poker in 2013 and has since become a notable figure in Argentine poker, competing both online and live.

Quarenta gained attention by winning three similar online poker leagues, each earning him a trip to Las Vegas. His biggest live cash to date came from one of those trips: a third-place finish in a tournament at the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas for $50,000. Online, his best result is winning the Sunday $500 on PokerStars for $43,000.

In 2020, Quarenta won the first date of the CNPO LATAM on PokerFran, beating Victor Vallejos heads-up to take $84.60 from a $235 prize pool. He also won the online poker League Main Event in July, defeating a field of 364 entries to claim $212.04 and 100 ranking points. Additionally, he won the Madero Bounty tournament in October, earning $59,961.55 plus bounties, out of a total prize pool of AR$226,270.

Quarenta is known as a tight-aggressive player who relies on position and disciplined decision-making. He emphasizes bankroll management and emotional control, qualities that have helped him achieve consistency in both online and live tournaments.

Quarenta has been featured on the Argentine podcast "Poker Sin Pausa" and is a member of APCT. He actively competes in the CNPO LATAM league, aiming to earn another trip to Las Vegas.
