62 Offsuit 62o

In Texas Hold'em, a starting hand consisting of a 6 and a 2 of different suits is considered a very poor hand.

62 Offsuit (62o)

Overview

62o (six and two offsuit) is widely regarded as one of the worst starting hands in Texas Hold'em, often referred to as a "[trash hand]" or "[air]". In regular games, it should be folded directly in almost all situations, except in special positions or against specific opponents.

Hand Strength Analysis

  • Preflop: 62o is extremely weak. It has no straight potential (gap of four numbers), no flush possibility, and both cards are low in rank. At a full table (9-10 players), its win rate is typically below 15%.
  • Postflop: The probability of hitting a pair of sixes or deuces is about 32%, but the kicker is very poor, making it easy to be dominated by larger pairs or outdrawn. The probability of hitting two pair or trips is low, and even when made, it is often dominated.

Standard Strategy

  • Fold: Folding directly is the correct choice in the vast majority of cases, especially when not yet in the pot.
  • Raise: Only possible in very special situations as a blind-stealing or isolation tool, for example, when on the button against very tight players in the small and big blinds, a raise can be attempted. However, such plays are extremely risky and not recommended for beginners.
  • Call: Almost never recommended to call, because even if you see a cheap flop, you often end up in trouble.
