大盲位翻牌4-bet干燥牌面(BB Flop 4-Bet Dry)
A play where the big blind player makes a fourth bet on the flop i.e., re-raises the opponent's third bet after facing an opponent's raise, with a dry board texture.
Overview
BB Flop 4-Bet Dry is an advanced flop strategy in poker, typically occurring when the Big Blind faces an aggressive opponent. In this term, "BB" stands for Big Blind, "Flop" refers to the flop round, "4-Bet" means the fourth raise (i.e., a re-raise after three previous bets or raises), and "Dry" indicates that the board texture is dry (e.g., scattered ranks, lacking draws or flush possibilities).
Typical Situation
Assume there was a preflop raise and the Big Blind called. The flop comes dry (e.g., K♠7♦2♣), and the preflop raiser makes a continuation bet. The Big Blind then raises (i.e., the first raise, commonly called a check-raise). The opponent re-raises (now a 3-bet). If the Big Blind raises again, that becomes a 4-bet. Note that on the flop, the number of raises in a betting round rarely exceeds 2-3, so a 4-bet is extremely rare and mainly occurs in deep-stacked situations or special dynamics.
Strategic Purpose
This play has two objectives:
- Value: The Big Blind holds a strong hand (e.g., top pair top kicker, a set, etc.) on a dry board where the opponent is unlikely to outdraw, so a 4-bet inflates the pot.
- Bluff: The Big Blind holds a weak hand or a draw (e.g., backdoor flush draw) and uses the dry board to represent a very strong hand, forcing the opponent to fold. Since dry boards don't easily form strong made hands, opponents may overestimate the Big Blind's range.
Notes
- This term is highly specialized, rarely seen in ordinary games, and mostly used in high-stakes tables or theoretical analysis.
- Executing this play requires consideration of stack depth, opponent tendencies, and balance to avoid overusing it and causing range imbalance.
