BB WTSD
BB WTSD
Term: Big Blind Went to Showdown Rate BB WTSD The proportion of times a player in the big blind position enters the flop and ultimately reaches showdown.
Overview
BB WTSD is a statistic in poker tracking software, commonly used in NLH (No-Limit Hold'em) cash games or tournaments. It represents the frequency with which a player enters a hand from the Big Blind position and continues playing post-flop until Showdown. Formula: Number of hands from BB that went to showdown ÷ Number of hands from BB that saw the flop × 100%.
Usage and Interpretation
- Defense Range Assessment: BB WTSD can reflect the quality of a player's defense range when facing raises from the big blind. A high WTSD (e.g., >40%) may indicate a wide defense range with a tendency to call down with marginal or medium hands. A low WTSD (e.g., <25%) may indicate a tighter defense range or a tendency to fold weaker hands post-flop.
- Tendency Assessment: Combined with other stats such as Fold to C-Bet and Aggression Factor, it provides a more accurate picture of a player's style. For example, high BB WTSD with low aggression may suggest a passive calling station type; low BB WTSD with high aggression may indicate an aggressive defensive type.
- Sample Size Requirements: This statistic requires a large sample size (usually at least several thousand hands) to stabilize, as the BB position faces many raises and post-flop decisions are varied. Values fluctuate significantly in small samples, offering limited reference value.
Usage Notes
- This statistic only includes hands where the player is in the BB and sees the flop; it excludes scenarios where the BB folds preflop or all opponents fold.
- Reasonable BB WTSD ranges vary by buy-in level and opponent style. In tighter cash games, a typical value might be around 30%; in looser games, it may be higher.
- Do not view this stat in isolation; analyze it together with W$SD (Won at Showdown) and pot sizes for a comprehensive assessment.
