按钮位浮式(BTN Float)
BTN Float
In button position, calling an opponent's bet on the flop with the plan to bet on the turn regardless of whether you hit, using position to force a fold.
Overview
BTN [Float] is an aggressive post-flop strategy in Texas Hold'em, specifically referring to a float operation performed from the button position. Floating itself means calling an opponent's continuation bet on the flop with a relatively wide range, intending to bet on the turn when the opponent shows weakness (checks). When holding the button, this play is more powerful because you have the last action post-flop, allowing you to accurately observe your opponent's reaction.
Usage Scenarios and Principles
BTN Float is typically used against opponents who raised pre-flop and continued betting on the flop, especially when the flop is dry and unfavorable for the pre-flop raiser's range. For example, on a K-7-2 rainbow flop, the pre-flop raiser bets from position, and the BTN calls with a backdoor draw or a weak pair. If the turn is a blank (e.g., 4), the BTN bets after the opponent checks, and the opponent often folds unpaired high cards (e.g., AQ) or medium pairs.
Advantages
- Positional Control: The BTN always acts last post-flop, maximizing informational advantage.
- Range Exploitation: Targets the tendency of pre-flop raisers to check-fold when they miss the flop.
- Balancing Value: Helps balance the flop calling range with both value hands and bluffs.
Considerations
- Avoid overusing this play, as opponents may counter with check-raises.
- Select opponents: Effective against tight-passive players with high post-flop fold rates, or players who continuation bet too frequently but also check the turn often.
- Flop structure: Dry flops are more suitable for floating; wet flops (e.g., with flush draws) make opponents more likely to continue.
- Stack depth: Floating is riskier with deep stacks, as opponents may set traps.
Typical Example
(Example) 6-handed, effective stacks 100BB. Hero holds 7♦8♦ on the BTN. UTG raises to 3BB, Hero calls, blinds fold. Flop: K♣7♥2♠. UTG bets 5BB, Hero calls. Turn: 4♦. UTG checks, Hero bets 12BB, UTG folds. In this example, Hero floats with bottom pair and successfully bluffs on the turn.
