Poker Term

庄位翻牌圈干燥牌面4-bet(BTN Flop 4-Bet Dry)

Refers to a Button player making a fourth bet i.e., a re-raise of a 3-bet on the flop when facing a dry board.

Term Explanation

BTN Flop 4-Bet Dry consists of four parts:

  • BTN: Button position, referring to a player in position on the flop.
  • Flop: The post-flop betting round after three community cards are dealt.
  • 4-Bet: On the flop, the first bet is called a Bet, and each subsequent raise is called 2-Bet (i.e., Raise), 3-Bet, 4-Bet. Thus, a 4-Bet is the third raise.
  • Dry: A dry board, meaning the community cards lack possible straight or flush draws, e.g., a rainbow board with disconnected ranks (like K♠8♦2♣).

Strategic Significance

On a dry board, players usually have stronger made hands because drawing possibilities are low. A Flop 4-Bet from the BTN often indicates a strong hand above top pair (e.g., top pair top kicker, trips, etc.), or it can be a bluff for range balancing. This play leverages positional advantage, forcing opponents to make tough decisions out of position.

Common Scenarios

Typical situation: Pre-flop BTN raises, Big Blind calls; post-flop Big Blind bets, BTN raises, Big Blind 3-bets, BTN 4-bets. At this point, if the board is dry, BTN's 4-bet range should include value hands (e.g., two pair or better) and a few bluffs (e.g., air with backdoor draws).

Notes

  • This term is not a standard fixed phrase and is mostly seen in advanced strategy discussions.
  • In practice, it should be used with consideration of player tendencies and stack depth to avoid over-bluffing.
