Poker Term

按钮位河牌四次加注干燥面(BTN River 4-Bet Dry)

Refers to a player on the button making a fourth bet on the river, with a dry board that has no possible straight or flush draws.

Term Analysis

BTN (Button): The button position, the dealer position, which offers the most positional advantage in Texas Hold'em, allowing the player to act last.

River: The river betting round, which occurs after the fifth community card is dealt.

4-Bet: Typically refers to the fourth raise pre-flop (BetRaise → Re-raise → 4-Bet), but can also be used post-flop to indicate the fourth raise action in a given betting round (Bet → Raise → 3-Bet → 4-Bet). A 4-bet on the river is extremely rare and usually indicates a very aggressive hand.

Dry: Refers to a dry board, meaning the community cards have no obvious draw possibilities (e.g., no straight draws, no flush draws). For example, a board of K♠ 8♦ 2♣ 6♥ 3♦.

Scenario and Strategy

On the river with a dry board, players' value ranges are relatively clear, and bluffing opportunities are minimal. A BTN player with a nut hand or a very strong hand (e.g., top full house, quads) might use a 4-bet to maximize value. However, if the opponent shows weakness, the BTN can usually just value bet. A 4-bet often signifies extreme hand strength.

Since a dry board lacks draws, the BTN's 4-bet range contains almost no bluffs. Unless the opponent holds the nuts or a hand close to it, they should fold decisively. This term is often used in deep strategy analysis, emphasizing range polarization in extreme situations.

Notes

  • Post-flop 4-bets are extremely rare in low-stakes games; judgment should incorporate opponent tendencies.
  • In actual play, a river 4-bet usually only has two possibilities: the nuts or a crazy bluff, but bluffing frequency on dry boards is very low.
