按钮位河牌五倍加注干燥面(BTN River 5-Bet Dry)

On the river, the button position player makes a fifth raise 5-bet, and the board is dry no draws possible — an extremely rare scenario.

Overview

"BTN River 5-Bet Dry" is a term describing an extreme hand situation, typically appearing only in theoretical discussions or games with extremely deep stacks. It comprises three elements: position (BTN, Button), street (River), action (5-Bet, fifth raise), and board texture (Dry).

Scenario Analysis

In No-Limit Texas Hold'em, betting rounds usually have a four-raise cap (many live cash games use a three-raise cap), but theoretically, raises can continue indefinitely. When a preflop 3-bet and 4-bet occur, followed by aggressive raises on the flop and turn, a fifth raise may arise on the river. A dry board means the river does not offer straight or flush draw possibilities, e.g., a board of K♠8♣2♦9♥A♠ with no flush possible. On such boards, hand strength is highly deterministic, leaving minimal bluffing room.

Strategic Implications

  • Extremely strong hand: The player making a 5-bet typically holds the nuts or near-nuts (e.g., top set, straight, full house), because the dry board lacks draws and the opponent's raising range is concentrated on value hands.
  • Bluffs virtually nonexistent: Since the 5-bet requires an extremely high signal-to-noise ratio and a dry board makes it hard to represent missed draws, bluff success rates are extremely low; thus, a BTN 5-bet almost certainly indicates a monster hand.
  • Rare in practice: Most poker rooms impose raise caps, and in normal stack depths the probability of reaching a 5-bet on the river is negligible. Such situations appear mainly in theoretical textbooks or specific deep-stacked games.
