Strategy Principles

• Board Characteristics: Monotone means all five community cards share the same suit. In this case, a flush is one of the strongest hands, and the probability of making one is relatively low (limited flush holdings in hand ranges).
• Position Advantage: The Button acts last on the river, allowing observation of opponents' actions before deciding. If an opponent raises after a bet, it usually indicates at least a flush or a full house or stronger.
• Betting Purposes:
  • Value Bet: Holding medium to strong made hands (e.g., top pair, two pair), hoping to get called by worse hands.
  • Bluff Bet: Using the monotone board to scare opponents into folding unimproved hands.
• Fold Condition: Facing a raise, the raising range on a monotone board is typically very strong (flush or full house), and your hand is unlikely to improve, making folding a long-term positive expectation move.
