CO Flop 4-Bet Pot

CO Flop 4-Bet Pot

Term: CO Flop 4-Bet Pot Refers to the pot formed after a 4-bet by the Cutoff CO player on the flop.

Overview

The CO Flop 4-Bet Pot is a specific pot scenario in Texas Hold'em. It occurs on the flop when the Cutoff (CO) player has either 3-bet or called a 3-bet preflop, and then re-raises (i.e., 4-bets) on the flop, forming a 4-bet pot.

Position and Range

The Cutoff (CO) is a late position between the under-the-gun (UTG) position and the button, offering positional advantage. A 4-bet on the flop typically indicates that the CO player holds a strong hand or a draw. The range may include top pair or better made hands, combination draws, or very few bluffs.

Strategy Considerations

In a CO Flop 4-Bet Pot, players should note the following:

  • Pot size: Since it is a 4-bet pot, the pot is usually large, so subsequent bets and bet sizing need to be carefully controlled.
  • Range polarization: The CO player's range is usually polarized – either strong hands looking for value, or draws or bluffs.
  • Opponent's reaction: The opponent may have 3-bet preflop, so their range could also be strong. Facing a 4-bet, the opponent may fold, call, or 5-bet all-in.

Example

Typical scenario: Preflop, the CO player raises, the big blind 3-bets, and the CO calls. After the flop is dealt, the CO leads out with a bet, the big blind raises, and the CO re-raises (i.e., 4-bets). The resulting pot is a CO Flop 4-Bet Pot.
