CO翻牌干燥面开池下注(CO Flop Open Dry)
Refers to the first bet made on the flop by the player in the cutoff CO position on a dry board.
CO Flop Open Dry is a specific flop betting scenario in Texas Hold'em. CO (Cutoff) refers to the position to the right of the button, typically considered a favorable position for stealing blinds or applying sustained aggression.
Characteristics of a Dry Board
A dry board refers to a flop structure that is simple and offers very few drawing possibilities, e.g., a rainbow board (three different suits) with non-consecutive ranks, such as K♠ 7♦ 2♣. Such boards rarely allow straight or flush draws, so a lead bet on the flop often represents a strong hand like top pair or better, or is an intentional polarizing bet to represent strength.
Advantages of the CO Position
When acting on the flop, the CO has already observed the actions of all players before them. If everyone checks, the CO’s bet can immediately take down the pot, especially on a dry board where players with wider preflop ranges may struggle to call. The CO also benefits from positional advantage, enabling them to check back for a free turn card or adjust their strategy based on opponents’ reactions.
Strategic Considerations
- Value Bet: Holding top pair or better on a dry board, bet to build the pot and extract value.
- Bluff Bet: Against opponents who are aggressive preflop but have weak flop ranges, the CO can represent a strong hand with air, leveraging the dry board to force folds.
- Range Balance: To avoid being easily read, balance value bets with bluffs, and occasionally check to control pot size.
Typical Example
In a 6-handed cash game with effective stacks of 100 BB. Preflop, the CO raises to 3 BB, and the big blind calls. Flop comes A♠ 8♦ 3♣ (dry board, no flush or straight draws). Big blind checks. The CO, if holding AK, can bet 2/3 pot for value; if holding 7♠ 6♠, can bet to represent an ace and attempt to steal the pot.
Note: This term is common in English poker discussions; Chinese communities often use the English term directly or abbreviate it as "CO drying surface open pot".
