Strategy and Reasoning
The CO Resteal is primarily a bluff or semi-bluff play. The Button's raising range in unopened pots is often wide (stealing), so the CO can exploit this by representing a strong hand (e.g., premium pairs, high suited connectors). Effective stack sizes, table image, and opponent tendencies are critical. For example, against an aggressive Button who raises limps frequently, a limp-resteal with hands like A-J, K-Q, or small pocket pairs can be profitable.
Key Considerations:
- Position: The CO Resteal puts the CO at a positional disadvantage postflop if called (the Button has position). Therefore, the re-raising range should be strong or well-balanced.
