关煞位河牌湿润面过牌弃牌(CO River Check-Fold Wet)

CO River Check-Fold Wet

co-river-check-fold-wet Refers to the strategy at the cutoff CO on the river, when facing a wet board that may have completed draws, choosing to check and be prepared to fold to a bet.

Meaning

CO River Check-Fold Wet is a specific defensive play used primarily to avoid being exploited by opponents bluffing on wet board textures on the river. A wet board refers to a board that can form straights or flushes, such as 9♠8♠7♦6♠5♣ or K♠J♠10♠9♥3♣. In this situation, the value of betting by the CO player with non-nut hands is low, and it is easy to be forced to fold by a raise from the opponent.

Application Scenarios

  • Preflop: The CO may raise or call with a wide range to enter the pot.
  • Flop & Turn: Continuation bet or check, with the opponent calling or raising.
  • River: The board is wet, and the CO has not made a strong hand (e.g., only one pair or a small pair), so they choose to check. If the opponent bets, the CO folds.

Strategic Considerations

  • Range Balancing: This strategy can be used to balance the checking range and prevent the opponent from always exploiting it by betting. However, note that too frequently giving up the pot in such spots may be exploited by observant opponents.
  • Opponent Tendencies: If the opponent tends to bluff on wet rivers, check-call may be better; if the opponent only bets strong hands on wet rivers, then check-fold is correct.
  • Pot Odds: Calculate the opponent's bet size. If folding less than 30% of the time, calling may be profitable, but consider the opponent's bluffing frequency in their range.

Typical Example

The CO holds A♠K♠, raises preflop, creating a heads-up pot. Flop: J♠10♠4♦, the CO bets, opponent calls. Turn: 8♠, completing a flush draw, the CO bets, opponent calls. River: 7♠, board: J♠10♠4♦8♠7♠, extremely wet. The CO has not made a flush (only Ace-high), so they check. The opponent bets, and the CO folds.
