Fold to 4-Bet from CO
Fold to 4-Bet from CO
Used to measure a player's tendency to resist 4-bets in the CO.
Overview
Fold to 4-Bet from CO (CO position's fold to 4-bet) is a statistical metric in Texas Hold'em that targets a specific position (Cut Off). It measures the proportion of times a player folds when facing a 4-bet after having open raised from the CO position. This metric is typically expressed as a percentage; the higher the value, the more likely the player is to be pushed off their hand by a 4-bet in the CO.
Calculation
The metric is calculated as: the number of folds divided by the total number of times the player faced a 4-bet after opening from the CO. For example, if a player opens from CO and faces a 4-bet 10 times, folding 7 of those, then their Fold to 4-Bet from CO is 70%. Note that this statistic usually excludes all-in or short-stack scenarios and only considers actions with sufficiently deep effective stacks.
Meaning and Application
- Reflects opponent's resistance: An opponent with a high value may be overly afraid of 4-bets and can be exploited by aggressive players. Conversely, a low value suggests the opponent tends to fight back or call, likely holding a strong range.
- Strategy development: If you notice an opponent's Fold to 4-Bet from CO is too high (e.g., above 60%), you can increase the frequency of 4-bet bluffing against them when in the CO. On the other hand, if the value is too low, be cautious with 4-bets to avoid being re-raised or called and ending up in a disadvantageous spot.
- Position factor: The CO position itself has a positional advantage, but when facing tight blind players, the fold to 4-bet rate may be higher. Players should assess based on overall stats (e.g., VPIP, PFR) and opponent tendencies.
Notes
This metric only applies to situations after a CO open raise, not to other positions (e.g., the button). Additionally, small sample sizes (e.g., fewer than 20 such encounters) limit its reliability. It is recommended to combine with other metrics such as Fold to 3-Bet and 4-Bet Range for a comprehensive evaluation.
