HJ位河牌延迟C-Bet(单花色牌面)(HJ River Delayed C-Bet Monotone)

HJ River Delayed C-Bet Monotone

A delayed c-bet on the river from the hijack HJ after checking both the flop and turn, on a monotone board.

Terminology Analysis

Position and Timing

  • HJ (Hijack): Also known as the hijack seat, located between UTG+1 (UTG+1) and the cutoff (CO), a middle-to-late position. When acting from this position, the opening range is typically wider, but the reactions of subsequent players (CO, button, blinds) must be considered.
  • Delayed Continuation Bet (Delayed C-Bet): Refers to checking on both the flop and turn, then making the first bet only on the river. This play is often used to balance ranges, conceal hand strength, or exploit specific board structures.
  • Monotone: Three or four community cards all of the same suit, creating potential for a flush draw or a made flush.

Strategy Logic

  • Typical Scenario: HJ player raises preflop and enters the pot. The flop comes three cards of the same suit (e.g., A♠ K♠ 5♠). Having missed the flush and lacking a strong pair, the player checks. The turn is checked again. On the river, a fourth flush card or a blank falls, and the player decides to bet.
  • Purpose:
    • To represent holding a flush (especially the nut flush) or a big pair, forcing opponents to fold.
    • To balance weak and strong hands in one's flop checking range.
    • To apply pressure on opponents who also checked the flop, using a delayed bet.
  • Considerations:
    • On monotone boards, opponents may hold a flush and call or raise, so betting frequency should be based on one's own range and opponent tendencies.
    • Prefer to use delayed bets on rivers that are high cards or complete straights/flushes to enhance credibility.
    • Avoid overusing this play when the river pairs the board, as opponents may have backdoor flushes.

Example Illustration

Example: 6-max table, HJ holds A♣ Q♦, raises preflop, button calls. Flop: K♠ 8♠ 3♠ (all spades), HJ checks, button checks. Turn: 4♠, HJ checks, button checks. River: 9♥, HJ bets 3/4 pot.

In this example, HJ uses a delayed C-Bet to try to represent a spade flush, even though it does not actually hold one.
