Poker Term

HJ位河牌最小加注(湿润牌面)(HJ River Min-Raise Wet)

On the river, the player in the HJ Hijack position makes a minimum legal raise against an opponent's bet, with a wet board texture containing multiple possible draws.

Position and Board Context

HJ (Hijack) is the position immediately to the right of CO (Cutoff), typically with a high frequency of blind stealing and raising. The river is the final betting round, with the board fixed. A wet board (e.g., three cards of the same suit or a straight possibility on the community cards) means the final board may present multiple made hands or bluffing opportunities after failed draws.

Strategic Significance

Performing a min-raise on a wet river board typically conveys a polarized range: either a strong hand trying to extract additional value (e.g., hitting a concealed straight or flush), or a weak hand or air attempting to bluff, using the low risk of a min-raise to force a fold. Since the HJ position acts relatively late, it can effectively observe opponent behavior.

Application Example

Suppose the board is A♠K♠T♠9♣6♠, and the opponent bets on the river. The HJ player holds Q♠J♣ (making a flush). After a min-raise, the opponent, if lacking a flush, may be forced to fold. If the player holds 8♠7♠ (already a flush), they can use a min-raise to induce a call or re-raise, gaining more value.

Precautions

  • This strategy works best within a balanced range; overuse can be exploited.
  • Against sharp opponents, a min-raise may be interpreted as a strong range, leading to lost value.
  • On wet boards, opponents may have many strong made hands; careful evaluation is needed.
