劫持位转牌持续下注(HJ Turn C-Bet)

HJ Turn C-Bet

The act of betting again on the turn after having made a continuation bet on the flop, with the player in the hijack position.

Term Background

The Hijack (HJ) is the position after UTG in a six‑handed full ring game, a middle‑to‑late position. HJ Turn C‑Bet refers to a player in the Hijack who has already made a continuation bet on the flop and then bets again on the turn. This action typically indicates that the player has a strong range or a specific board texture, aiming to continue applying pressure or to extract value.

Strategic Significance

  • Value Bet: When the flop continuation bet has been made and the turn board structure hasn’t changed much while the player holds a strong hand (e.g., top pair or better), an HJ Turn C‑Bet can extract value over two streets.
  • Semi‑Bluff: On a drawing board (e.g., straight or flush draws), if the turn hits part of the draw or increases fold equity, the HJ player may continue betting to balance their range and put pressure on opponents.
  • Range Polarization: The HJ position is relatively late, so its flop continuation betting range is usually wide. When the player continues betting on the turn, the range becomes more polarized—either a strong hand or a draw/air. Opponents must decide based on their own hand strength and the board texture.

Typical Example

Assume a six‑handed table, blind level 100/200, effective stack 40BB. The HJ raises to 3BB, the big blind (BB) calls. Flop: K♠ 8♦ 3♣. HJ continuation bets 4BB, BB calls. Turn: 2♥. HJ bets again for 10BB. This action is an HJ Turn C‑Bet.

Notes

  • The turn bet sizing should be relative to the flop bet and the pot size, typically 50%–75% of the pot.
  • On a dry flop (e.g., K‑8‑3 rainbow), if the turn does not change the board texture, the HJ’s continuation bet may appear overly aggressive and should consider the opponent’s range.
  • If the turn card is unfavorable for the HJ’s range (e.g., completing a straight or flush), the HJ Turn C‑Bet should be used cautiously.
