枪口位开池范围

Term: UTG Open-Raise Range The set of starting hand combinations used by the player in the Under the Gun UTG position to open-raise preflop.

Overview

UTG Opening Range refers to the range of starting hands that a player in the first position to the left of the big blind (UTG) should open-raise with when no one has raised before, in a full-ring game (typically 9 or 10 players). Since the UTG position is always at the most disadvantageous post-flop (first to act), its opening range is usually the tightest, requiring strong playability and post-flop combat ability.

Typical Range (Example)

Using a 9-handed table as an example, a standard tight-aggressive (TAG) player's UTG opening range comprises about 10%-15% of all starting hands, including:

Notes

  • The range adjusts with game dynamics: when previous players fold frequently or the blinds are weak, the range can be widened; otherwise, tighten it.
  • Stack depth: in deep stacks (deep-stacked), suited connectors and small-to-medium pairs increase in value; in short stacks, prefer shoving with high cards.
  • Balanced range: avoid only raising with strong hands; occasionally mix in medium hands (e.g., 76s or A2s) to prevent exploitation.
