UTG+1位率先加注(Open Raise from UTG+1)
Open Raise from UTG+1
In a full-ring game typically 9 or 10 players, the player who acts first after the UTG Under the Gun position makes an open-raise without any other players having entered the pot.
Position Explanation
UTG+1 (Under the Gun +1) is one of the earlier positions in the preflop action order, located to the left of the big blind's 4th seat (9-max table). Since there are still many players yet to act behind, this position is relatively disadvantaged, though slightly better than UTG.
Strategic Significance
- Range Tightening: Because many players are yet to act behind and may hold strong hands to raise or call, the UTG+1 open-raise range is typically tighter than that of middle and late positions. A typical range includes high pairs (TT+), strong high cards (AQ+, AJs+), some medium pairs and suited connectors (e.g., 77-99, JTs, T9s, etc.), depending on opponents and game dynamics.
- Avoiding Blind Squeezes: The small blind and big blind may use positional advantage to 3-bet squeeze, so UTG+1's raise size is usually larger (e.g., 3-4BB) to reduce opponent call frequency and protect their range.
- Subsequent Adjustments: If called, postflop play requires caution, as opponents may have a wide range or strong hands. In multi-way pots, UTG+1 players should avoid overly aggressive continuation betting, especially on unfavorable boards.
Example Scenario
At a 9-max table with blinds 100/200, after UTG folds, UTG+1 holds AKs and chooses to raise to 600. This is a standard and strong open-raise aimed at claiming the pot and establishing initiative.
