干牌面下的翻牌前挤压(Preflop Squeeze on Dry Board)

Preflop Squeeze on Dry Board

A preflop strategy: a player makes a large raise squeeze after someone raises and multiple players call, expecting or exploiting a dry flop low connectivity, low flush potential to follow up with a continuation bet.

Concept & Principle

"Preflop squeeze on a dry board" combines the preflop squeeze play with the advantage of a dry postflop board. A squeeze refers to a preflop scenario where a player raises, multiple players call, creating a large pot, and a remaining player reraises with a wider range, leveraging fold equity to win the pot. A "dry board" means the flop lacks straight or flush draw possibilities (e.g., K-7-2 rainbow).

The core logic: When the preflop squeeze succeeds, if the flop is dry, the squeezer can more credibly represent a strong hand, making a continuation bet more successful since opponents have few draws. Conversely, on a wet board (e.g., 9-8-7 suited), opponents may have draws, increasing the risk of a continuation bet.

Applicable Scenarios

Typical situation:

  • Preflop: A player in middle position raises, and two or more players call.
  • You are on the button or in a blind with a medium pair, suited connectors, or A-x (not a premium hand), but you believe the original raiser's range is wide.
  • You make a squeeze raise of about 3.5-4.5 times the pot.
  • If called, and the flop is dry (e.g., A-5-2 rainbow), you often bet 2/3 pot, representing a strong hand even if you missed.

Notes

  • This term is not a standard poker term; it's a combination of preflop strategy and postflop board analysis.
  • Opponents' fold equity is key: evaluate the folding tendencies of the original raiser and callers before squeezing.
  • A dry board is not a guarantee: if opponents have top pair or an overpair, they may still call.
  • Suitable for deep or medium stacks; short stacks are more likely to face all-ins.

Example

You are in the big blind. The cutoff raises to 3BB, the button and small blind call. You hold 7♠8♠, pot is 12BB. You raise to 10BB, only the button calls. Flop: K♣5♦2♥ (dry board). You bet 8BB, button folds.
