动态牌面河牌四次加注(River 4-Bet on Dynamic Board)

On the river, when the board is dynamic multiple draws or made hand possibilities exist, the action of re-raising the opponent's third raise 3-bet again i.e., a fourth bet/raise.

Term Explanation

River 4-Bet on Dynamic Board refers to a situation on the river where, after multiple rounds of betting, the board presents a complex structure with multiple possible made hands (e.g., flush, straight, full house). A player makes a fourth raise (4-bet) in response to the opponent's third raise (3-bet). This action typically occurs in deep-stack scenarios where the board is highly uncertain ("dynamic").

Betting Nomenclature

  • On each street (flop, turn, river), bets are named sequentially: the first bet is a "bet," the first raise is a "raise," the second raise is a "re-raise" (3-bet), the third raise is a "4-bet," and so on. On the river, a 4-bet refers to the raise made after a 3-bet.

Meaning of Dynamic Board

  • A "dynamic board" means that on the river, the board still presents multiple draws or incomplete hand types, such as a double-gutter plus flush draw board, a paired plus flush board, or a board that could become a full house or straight flush. In such cases, players have wide hand ranges, making both strong hands and bluffs plausible.

Action Interpretation

  • Generally, a river 4-bet represents extremely strong hand strength (e.g., the nut flush, a full house, or a hand that beats the opponent's likely strongest holding), because the player is willing to commit a large number of chips to the pot with only one betting round remaining. However, in high-level play, this action can also serve as a bluff for range balancing, using the dynamic board to force opponents to fold medium-strength hands.

Notes

  • Since the river is the last street, a 4-bet essentially commits almost all chips to the pot, so it typically occurs only in deep-stack games. In short-stack situations, there is not enough room for a river 4-bet.
  • This term is not commonly used in the Chinese poker community; it appears mainly in complex strategy discussions.
