河牌延迟持续下注(River Delayed C-Bet)

River Delayed C-Bet

Refers to a player's first bet on the river after checking both the flop and the turn, typically aimed at bluffing or value betting.

Overview

A River Delayed C-Bet is a post-flop strategy where a player checks on both the flop and turn, then makes their first bet on the river. This term combines the concept of a "Delayed C-Bet"—not betting immediately on the flop, but waiting until a later street.

Situations

  • Flop miss but turn improvement: If you miss the flop but pick up a draw or make a hand on the turn, you may choose to check for pot control and then bet on the river.
  • Inducing bluffs: Checking the flop to appear weak, enticing the opponent to bluff on the turn, then betting on the river to counter-bluff.
  • Balancing range: When your flop range is weak, checking can protect strong hands on later streets; a river bet represents either a strong hand or a bluff.

Advantages

  • Deceptiveness: Checking two streets then betting makes it hard for opponents to define your hand strength.
  • Pot control: Avoids building a large pot on the flop, reducing risk.
  • Exploiting opponent folds: If opponents fold too often to river bets, a delayed bet can extract value.

Considerations

  • Checks on flop and turn are limited; choose an appropriate bet size on the river, typically 50%-75% of the pot.
  • Avoid overusing this line, or opponents will adjust.
  • Consider the opponent's range and tendencies, e.g., whether they are prone to folding on the river.

Typical Example

  • Flop: Hero holds A♠K♠, flop is J♥8♠2♦. Hero checks.
  • Turn: 7♦. Hero checks.
  • River: Q♠. Hero bets 70% of the pot, representing either a made hand or a bluff.
