小盲位河牌圈湿润牌面过牌-加注(SB River Check-Raise Wet)

In the small blind, when the river board is wet possibility of straight or flush draws, the strategy of checking first and then raising the opponent's bet.

Strategy Principle

SB River Check-Raise Wet is an advanced line on the river on wet boards. Wet boards typically feature multiple drawing possibilities (e.g., flush draws, straight draws), making both players' ranges contain strong made hands and bluffs. The small blind (SB) acts first on the river, showing weakness by checking to induce a bet from the opponent (usually the big blind or button), then raising to maximize value or bluff.

Application Scenarios

  • Value Raise: When SB holds the nuts or near-nuts (e.g., a straight or flush), a check-raise can build the pot and extract more value from the opponent's weaker made hands or bluffs.
  • Bluff Raise: When SB's hand has no showdown value but the wet board may convince the opponent that SB holds a strong hand, a check-raise can serve as a bluff, forcing the opponent to fold.

Key Considerations

  • Opponent Tendencies: This line is more effective against opponents who often continuation bet or over-bluff; if the opponent is passive, the opportunity for a check-raise may not arise.
  • Stack Depth: Deeper stacks allow for larger raise sizes, increasing fold equity.
  • Board vs. Opponent Range: On wet boards, the opponent's betting range may be more polarized (including many bluffs), so the potential return from a raise is higher.

Risks and Countermeasures

  • Risk: If the opponent holds the nuts and re-raises, SB may become trapped.
  • Countermeasure: Balance the range and avoid overusing this line. Typically execute at a specific frequency, e.g., using GTO mixed strategies.

Example

Assume the board is Th 9h 7d 6h 2h, SB holds 8s 5s (a straight). After checking, the opponent bets. SB raises, and the opponent may fold or call, yielding profit for SB.
